There’s something special about sitting down to a meal that has been grown, prepared, donated, served and shared by people from your own community.
Spiral Living Center’s Local Foods Dinner returns Saturday, November 7, 2026, bringing the Illinois Valley together for an evening of local food, live music, entertainment and community connection at the Takilma Community Building.
Doors open at 5:30 PM, with festivities continuing until 9 PM.
This year’s dinner will feature an island theme, a menu highlighting locally grown and produced foods, live music generously donated by George and Anwyn, and plenty of opportunities for our community to be part of making the evening happen.

Tickets are:

It Takes a Village to Make Dinner
The Local Foods Dinner is built by community hands, and we’re looking for volunteers to help before, during and after the event.
Help is needed with food preparation, kitchen support, setup, guest check-in, serving and dining room support, dishes, cleanup and general event assistance.
You don’t need special experience. If you’re willing to lend a hand, we’ll help find a place for you.
Thank you for lending a hand. Whether you’re chopping vegetables, setting tables, greeting neighbors, washing dishes or helping us put everything back together at the end of the night, you’re part of what makes this community gathering possible.
Grow It? Make It? Donate It?
A Local Foods Dinner starts long before anyone sits down at the table.
We’re looking for local growers, gardeners, farmers, food producers, bakers and community members who would like to contribute ingredients, produce, beverages, desserts or other foods to this year’s dinner.
Sometimes the most interesting contributions come from what happens to be growing in someone’s garden or tucked away on a local farm. If you have something unusual, abundant or simply delicious, tell us about it!
We’re also accepting donations for the evening’s fundraising auction, including useful local goods, food and beverages, gift certificates, experiences, services, tools, firewood, musical instruments, holiday-gift-worthy items and other contributions that our neighbors would enjoy bidding on.
Spiral Living Center also has a limited number of dinner tickets available for trade for significant food or auction contributions. If you’d like your contribution to be considered for a ticket exchange, you can indicate that on the donation form.
Dinner With a Purpose
The Local Foods Dinner is also a fundraiser for the work Spiral Living Center does throughout the Illinois Valley.
Proceeds help support programs and services including community food programs, skillshares and classes, the Earth Scouts teen program, the tool library and other community initiatives.
This year, we’re also planning a lively community auction as part of the evening. It’s another way to support the work while having a little fun, and perhaps heading home with something wonderful.
