Learn how to make Apple Cider Vinegar + Fire Cider with herbalists Deb Lukas & Kimberly Berns!
In our 7th episode, Deb Lukas shows us how to make your very own Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) from scratch using her own apples! After pressing out raw apple cider, Deb then ferments it in a carboy and waits as it turns from alcohol to vinegar using an airlock to aid the process. Apples naturally contain yeasts on the outside of their skin which then eat up the sugar in the fruit. Besides being a delicious seasoning, Apple Cider Vinegar has been popular for cleansing detox diets, weight loss, controlling diabetes, lowering cholesterol, and many other health benefits. It can be consumed internally in some warm water or included in an herbal oxymel. Topically, ACV can be diluted and used for all manners of skin inflammation such as a facial toner for acne or fungal infections or as a hair rinse for dandruff or scalp psoriasis. Later in this video, Kimberly Berns demonstrates how to use your homemade ACV to make Fire Cider, a warming & invigorating tonic that can aid with colds, viruses, flu, and boost your overall health in the winter season. It’s considered a folk herbal remedy so while details of the ingredients may differ across various recipes, it essentially contains a mixture of roots, herbs, and fruits slowly infused into apple cider vinegar. Enjoy in good health!
